Desafinado

The title is a joke about singing out of tune, but the harmony is serious: one hundred and eighteen chords, ten tonal centres, fifty dominants.

What makes Desafinado hard isn't the quantity — it's the speed. The centre changes every two bars, sometimes every bar, and a player who doesn't see the change coming plays the previous scale over the new one and produces exactly the out-of-tune sound the title is joking about.
